  • Small-group education

    Small Group Education

Our department maintains a student-teacher ratio of 3:1, which is among the top levels for mathematics departments nationwide (including public universities). From first year through fourth year, we offer seminar-style classes in small groups, providing attentive guidance tailored to each student’s level of understanding.

  • Learn a wide range of fields

Broad Range of Fields to Learn

In our department, there is a well-balanced presence of researchers in both pure mathematics fields (such as algebra, geometry, analysis) and applied mathematics fields (such as probability theory, statistics, and mathematical modeling). This enables students to learn a wide range of mathematical disciplines. In addition to mathematics courses, students can also take certain science and engineering courses offered by other departments in the Faculty of Engineering Science, allowing them to acquire foundational knowledge in sciences outside of mathematics as needed. (For more details on the curriculum, please refer to the Curriculum page on the Kansai University website.)

  • Well-Equipped Learning Environment

    Well-Equipped Learning Environment

Our departmental resource room and graduate student room are stocked with numerous mathematics books—ranging from introductory textbook level to advanced research level—available for students to read freely. Furthermore, in the experiment and practice lab, students have access to new high-performance computers, which can be used for numerical and symbolic computations or for plotting graphs of functions.

  • Careers and Employment

    Careers and Employment

Graduates of our department find careers not only as educators (e.g. junior high and high school math teachers), but also in general industries such as manufacturing, information and communications technology, and financial institutions. They are expected to play important roles as new leaders in the emerging IoT society. (For more information about career paths and employment outcomes, see the Career & Employment page on the Kansai University website.)
